Growing up in a tiny rural West Coast town, Guy is passionate about adventure and entrepreneurship. In 2015 he was awarded Young New Zealander of the Year, and was invited to speak at the Social Enterprise World Forum, alongside Nobel Peace Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus.
Guy is the CEO and Founder of Inspiring Stories, he created Festival for the Future, as well as New Zealand’s accelerator programme to develop young social entrepreneurs and their ventures – Live the Dream. He’s also working to build The Future Fund to provide seed funding and tailored support for New Zealand’s most promising young social entrepreneurs. Since September 2015 more than 200 people have collectively donated over $75,000 to help kick-start the fund.
It’s been incredible to watch Festival for the Future grow from a tiny 100-person pilot in year one, to now the most significant event of it’s kind. Last year we have over 500 people from 20 Pacific Nations in the room – the buzz was incredible!
Inspiring Stories operates nationwide with the vision to see every young New Zealander unleash their potential to change the world. Now in year six, Guy and the team have developed and impressive track record of programmes and partnerships that have helped to accelerate the capability and confidence of more than 5,000 young New Zealanders.
Guy has spoken internationally and at home to more than 20,000 people over the past few years – from University Graduation Ceremonies, to opening TEDxWellington, to grassroots communities.
We live in a world with urgent and complex problems that need solving. We know that Kiwis can achieve remarkable things, and backing young New Zealanders is one of the most important things we can be doing at this time.
