National Programme Manager for the Future Leaders Programme at Inspiring Stories
Carina is the national Programme Manager for the Future Leaders Programme at Inspiring Stories. The Future Leaders programme works to support more than 200 young people in rural and provincial New Zealand to build their entrepreneurship and leadership capability, and make a difference in their backyard. The programme runs in Kaikohe and the Far North, Whangarei, Kawerau, Ōpōtiki, Whakatāne, Palmerston North, Kāpiti Coast and Greymouth.
Carina is an alumni of the Asia New Zealand Foundation leadership network, and a member of multiple networks that relate to the key focus areas of her work: community, education, cultural understanding, music/arts, and the empowerment of minority groups.
Outside of her day-to-day at Inspiring Stories, Carina is heavily involved in community work in the areas of music and culture. She manages the Bahasa Indonesia language group ‘Warung Kopi’, and runs the Wellington Kulintang music group, performs in Indonesian gamelan ensembles (with whom she’s performed at Homegrown, WOMAD, and recorded for ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’), and recently taught music to adults with disabilities at Alpha Art Studio.
