CEO of Thankyou – social enterprise and consumer purchases to end poverty


At the age of 19, Daniel Flynn and a group of friends were confronted by the injustice that millions of people in our world didn’t have access to clean, fresh water – yet bottled water companies were everywhere, and making huge profits.

We had this crazy idea – what if you could create a water bottle company that helped to fund clean water and sanitation in the places that needed it most?

Thankyou Water (now Thankyou) ­ is a social enterprise that exists to empower Australians to change the world through simple everyday purchases. Daniel and the team at Thankyou have now developed a range of over 34 consumer products across the water, body care and food ranges, which help to fund safe water access, hygiene and sanitation, and food aid programs.

Thankyou has now given over $5.5 million to impactful projects around the world that have enabled clean water and sanitation for more than 540,000 people, provided food aid for more than 132,000 people.

One of Daniel’s mottos is ‘impossibility is only someone’s opinion, not a fact’, and it has seen him navigate the team at Thankyou through obstacles in the start-­up journey, and two bold and ambitious marketing campaigns to get the range successfully stocked in prominent retailers, 7-Eleven, Coles and Woolworths.

Thankyou’s products are distributed through over 4000 outlets across Australia including Coles, Woolworths, IGA and 7-Eleven.

In 2016 Daniel spoke at Festival for the Future, and their impact and story is so inspiring that we’re delighted to be welcoming him back. They’re also gearing up to launch in New Zealand!
