Giveaway – Terms and Conditions

This page outlines the Terms & Conditions to win one of two trips, to either Hawaii (Sept) or the trip to Fiji (Oct) for the Nurture Change and Nurture Her retreats offered as part of the 2018 Festival for the Future.

  1. Any person who registers for the Festival for the Future, the event run by Inspiring Stories, between 1 May 2018 and 15 July 2018 automatically goes into the draw to win one of two trips, and as agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions below.
  2. Entrants will go in the draw to win one of two trips as follows:
    i) The Nurture Change Business Retreat, happening 14–19 September 2018 in Hawaii, including ticket, flights and accommodation;
    ii) The Nurture Her Business Retreat, happening 24–28th October 2018 in Fiji, including ticket, flights and accommodation.

    For either prize above (the Prize) the costs covered will be return flights from Auckland to the conference, and include food and accommodation at the conference. The Winner and must comply with those terms and conditions at all times. In no circumstance will Inspiring Stories, or Nurture Change, or Nurture Her (the Organisers) be liable for any breach of those terms and conditions, including any damage caused by the Winner or accompanying persons. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Winner is, for whatever reason, unable to travel on a nominated date during this period, whether the failure was due to reasons beyond the Winner's control or otherwise, then the Winner will forfeit the Prize.
  3. To be eligible for the Prize, registered Festival delegates must be 18 years or older by 1 August 2018.

  4. Any person who has purchased a ticket to ‘Festival for the Future’ before 15 July 2018, as well as all Festival speakers, workshop facilitators, scholarship recipients and volunteers also automatically go into the draw to win the Prize.

  5. Any Inspiring Stories staff or interns are not eligible for the Prize.

  6. To be eligible for the Prize, ticket holders must hold a valid passport that is not due to expire within six months of 28 October 2018, and must not have any prior criminal convictions.

  7. Charges for excess baggage shall apply where a passenger seeks to carry more than their entitlement of luggage. In such cases, the Organisers are not liable for the charges.

  8. The competition is open from 9am on 7 May 2018 until 11:59pm on Sunday 15th July 2018.

  9. Tickets invoiced but not yet paid by 11:59pm on Sunday 15th July 2018 will be included in the competition, provided that the ticket has been clearly assigned to an individual and the invoice is paid by Friday 20th July 2018.

  10. At the close of the competition, five names will be drawn from the pool of eligible delegates (the Shortlisters) for each prize. The Shortlisters will be interviewed over the course of the following week either in person or over the phone. The judging panel will comprise of at least one representative from Nurture Change and Inspiring Stories.

  11. The interview will cover:

    1. whether the Shortlister is available to accept the Prize - no transfers allowed;

    2. the Shortlister’s involvement in their community;

    3. any other volunteer or leadership positions the Shortlister holds;

    4. the potential benefits and value the Prize could create for the Shortlister.

  12. The Shortlister who is available to accept the Prize, and, in the opinion of the judging panel, has the strongest involvement in their community and holds position(s) of value in their community which align with the kaupapa of Inspiring Stories and the Nurture Change Business Retreat, will be offered the Prize.

  13. The winner will be announced during the 2018 Festival for the Future in Wellington, 27–29th July.

  14. The winner has until 1.00pm Sunday 29th July to confirm their acceptance of the Prize.

  15. If the winner declines to accept the Prize, the judges will at their discretion choose the runner-up from the pool of Shortlisters to take the initial winner’s place. The runner-up has until 1.00pm Monday 30th July to confirm their acceptance of the Prize.

  16. Entry into the competition does not require a person to purchase a Festival for the Future ticket for more than the usual retail price.

  17. No Liability – none of the participating companies, Inspiring Stories or Nurture Change or Nurture Her (or any other company or individual associated with the Competition) shall be responsible for or liable in any way (including, without limitation in negligence) in respect of: (i) any additional costs to the winners associated with the prizes, including any tax implications that may arise as a result of winning; or (ii) any loss, damage or personal injury whatsoever that is suffered or sustained (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) in connection with the Competition except any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

  18. The Organisers are not responsible for any cancellation, postponement, delay or rescheduling of any element of the Prize. Any costs incurred will be the sole responsibility of the Winner. The organisers will not be held responsible or liable in any way if the Winner or any additional companions are denied entry into Hawaii (meaning the United States of America) or Fiji, or encounter any visa issues on route. Excess baggage charges must be paid by the Winner. As part of the utilisation of travel, the Winner and any additional companions undertake to:

    17.1: have valid documentation, including, but not limited to, valid passports and visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at every destination;

    17.2: take responsibility to pay any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities (including any costs associated with delay;

    17.3: be neatly and appropriately attired when travelling;

    17.4: not carry, on their person, in their luggage or carry-on baggage, any contraband or goods which are prohibited by the laws of New Zealand or the United States of America, or goods which are unsuitable for carriage on a commercial aircraft;

    17.5: observe all directions of ground staff and air crew at all times;

    17.6. comply with the requirements of immigration and customs authorities in each country; and

    17.7. comply with the laws of the jurisdiction they are visiting.
