Social Entrepreneur in Residence at Massey University and Adjunct Lecturer in Politics
Thomas is the inaugural Social Entrepreneur in Residence at Massey University and Adjunct Lecturer in Politics. He is also co-founder of New Zealand Alternative, an independent organisation promoting a progressive role for Aotearoa New Zealand in the world.
Thomas graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French. He has led the global campaign to ban cluster bombs, co-founded and directed London-based disarmament group Article 36, and served on the board of the Nobel Prize-winning International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. With all of this, he has a proven track record in building successful teams and mobilising hundreds of volunteers. Last year, Thomas was a Green Party candidate in his hometown, Palmerston North. He hopes that Festival attendees will feel energised about working with others to cook up ambitious and focused projects for social change.
